Our 2023 Camps Are Here!
Is your child interested in animals and the outdoors? Do they have challenges with their confidence and emotional regulation skills which impact their social world? If so, this is the camp for your child! This camp is designed to assist your child to increase skills beneficial to overcome barriers that that may be impacting them negatively. The first day is designed to get to know each other and the animals while the staff complete a functional assessment on each child. The following days we will work on skill building based on the group’s needs and partaking in activities based on their interests. The final day is a review and celebration day. Activities will include working with chickens, grooming and walking donkeys and horses and various other teamwork-based activities with the animals. At times we will incorporate various physical activity games, nature walks, crafts, art, and outdoor skills.

Furry Foundations
Furry Foundations is an Animal-Assisted Therapeutic Intervention (AATI) program focused on developing life and social skills, assisting with emotional regulation, providing psycho-education and awareness into the issue the person is facing, teaching coping skills and helping people discover their abilities and build to their highest potential.
Our interventionists work in collaboration with parents, teachers and specialized teams to meet the needs and goals of the individual. This program is designed to help persons with special needs, mental health diagnoses and other life challenges. Our skilled professionals work one to one with our participants and each individual session is specifically tailored to suit the participant’s therapeutic needs. All participant involvement in the program is overseen by a Registered Psychologist through consistent consultation and treatment goal monitoring. |
Specialized Behavior Management Services:
The Specialized Behavior Management Services (SBMS) component of Furry Foundations provides intensive intervention within the participant’s home, community and at the Dreamcatcher™ program. This service is offered to families with children who have special needs and mental health diagnoses as well as to adults with similar challenges and their care teams. It is designed to run in a 12-month time frame and to be evaluated at the 9th month to determine if a second year is required.
Each participant will receive 1 year of services that include but are not limited to:

Each participant will receive 1 year of services that include but are not limited to:
- 1 to 2 hour individual sessions with the participant at Dreamcatcher™ and in the home or community setting. These sessions are weekly but may be reduced over time if goals are being met and if the client is ready to move on to another stage.
- Combined sessions with the participant and their support team when required.
- Functional assessments through observation of the participant’s abilities and therapeutic needs.
- Ongoing consultations with the Dreamcatcher™ Behaviour Specialist.
- Case conferences with the individual’s full care team (family, caregivers and support system etc.) monthly or bi-monthly.
- Written Behavior Management Plans with measurable outcomes.
- Written updates upon request.
- Written reports upon request.
Services include (but not limited to):
- Decreasing negative and aggressive behaviors
- Improving social and communication skills
- Improving emotional regulation skills
- Improving coping skills
- Building empathy
- Improving self-help and self-care skills
- Reducing anxiety symptoms
- Providing vocational skills
- Enhancing safety in the home and community
- Providing referrals for other services if necessary
