Our programs help children, youth and adults with physical, emotional, behavioral and mental health difficulties including adolescents from abusive homes…teenagers with anger, confidence and self-esteem issues…individuals with brain injury, sensory perceptual or mental health difficulties…and families who wish to rebuild positive relationships with their children. We use 6 species of animals in a naturally treed and wooded setting to help people overcome their life obstacles and begin healthy living. All programs are designed and carried out by a clinical therapist and behavior management specialist.
We are a non-profit organization that has been in operation since June of 2003. With no funding assistance of any kind, our operation consists solely of volunteer efforts. Thanks to the help of more than 50 community members we have been able to keep offering programs to people in need; however, due to the overhead costs of maintaining our animal therapists, we have to charge a fee for our services. Some families cannot afford to attend and as a result, we have had to turn away hundreds of families in need.
As such, we are desperately seeking donations, sponsors and partnerships for 2006. All proceeds gained in this effort will be used to help people in need of our services, regardless of their financial situation.
For every thousand dollars we receive, we will offer therapeutic services to one family who is desperately in need of help but otherwise cannot afford it. To date, we have served families on a sliding-scale fee system who were facing challenges including panic attacks; anxiety and depression; oppositional defiant and conduct disorder; asperger's syndrome; brain abnormalities resulting in anger, defiance, and non-compliance; youth at risk; addictions; post traumatic stress disorder; developmental delays with dual diagnoses; self-mutilating behavior; and suicidal ideation and attempts. There have been many more families facing similar issues who were not able to access our help because they had absolutely no funding. Many of them have not received any help to date. This program helps children, youth and adults to regain healthy lifestyles, to overcome their difficulties, to heal, and to eventually become productive contributors of society. Please help us help them.
We will recognize your generous contributions on our website, in our media blitzes, at our annual open house event and on a handcrafted plaque that will be posted at the facility. Your support of Dreamcatcher Association will ensure that families in dire need of therapeutic services will get the help they need. To make a donation, you can use either cheque or credit card. We welcome you to phone (780) 922-1047 to find out how your donation will make a difference.
